Hi everyone! I’m Kat Long, a quilter whose creations truly come from the heart. From that very first quilting class, a deep passion was ignited within me, leading me to craft quilts that resonate with my soul. There’s nothing I love more than sharing my unique designs with the quilting community. What’s in a Name
The name “Quilted CurioSewty” is a playful combination of several words:
**Quilted:** This refers to the art of quilting, which involves stitching together layers of fabric to create intricate patterns and designs.
* **Curio:** This means a rare or unusual object, often considered valuable or interesting.
* **Sewty:** This is a combination of the words “sew” (meaning to stitch) and “cutie,” suggesting something charming and adorable.
The name is inspired by the concept of a “Cabinet of Curiosities,” which was a popular practice in the 16th to 18th centuries. These cabinets were filled with a wide variety of unusual and exotic objects, collected from around the world.
By combining the words “quilted,” “curio,” and “sewty,” the name “Quilted CurioSewty” suggests a collection of unique and interesting quilted pieces, each with its own story to tell. It also implies a sense of wonder, curiosity, and delight, similar to the feeling one might experience when exploring a Cabinet of Curiosities
